*phew* I finally finished this one! I had no idea how I'd bring the small pheasant feathers into this one until I just sat down and did it.
commissioned this one from me, letting me run wild as long as I found a way to integrate the painting and feathers. I painted the griffin first, then added the wings, tail, and mane one tiny feather at a time.
It's got a really cool 3d look. Plus I added some metallic green and gold paint all over for a neat effect when you look at it from different angles, which also happens naturally in the feathers themselves.
The main body of the painting was done across 3 turkey tail feathers (12.5" x 6"), the mane, if you look close, has got 3 yellow pheasant feathers in it, the wing has a variety of pheasant feathers in it, and the end of the tail is a peacock tail feather with some very tiny blue pheasant feathers at its base. All of these (except the mane) were accented with the shiny green paint.
