What a challenge! This fur took a surprising amount of time to render out and I worked from an extremely blurry photo. I had to run a sharpen filter in Photoshop on it for the sake of my eyes. The owner was not able to retake the photo for the commission because the dog, Charlie, is now much older than in the picture. Never the less, I was able to guess the details in a way I'm sure is very close. I'm glad that she ordered a larger feather for this painting. I went detail crazy on Charlie's fur and there is no way it would look as nice if it were smaller.

I'm extremely proud of this painting and it is one of my best feather paintings. I kept thinking while painting about what a happy dog this is! This is a surprise Christmas present for :iconarbitraryink: 's mom. I can't wait to hear what she says when it is unwrapped!

The three turkey feathers measure 14.5 x 6

AHH! It is AMAZING. Wow! Thank you SO, SO much for all the hard work you put into this! The colour of his fur is faded out now, and he's got a lot of white around his face in his old age, but this is an exceptional reminder of what he was like when he was young.

I know the photo was awful, but the painting looks just like Charlie. It turned out so well! I can't wait to see it up close and personally :'D

Nothing really. The paint does it for me, but sometimes I will use tape then remove it later. Depends on the feathers.
